Each month, we provide educational classes & answer questions. These classes cover subject matter relevant to your diagnosis. If you are interested in coming to one of these casual, informative & interactive sessions, seating is limited. Register below to reserve your spot.
CLASS 1 – CANCER (1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.)
An introduction to cancer, we’ll review different types of cancer, treatment team members & resources. Patients are often overwhelmed when they first hear the word “cancer.” This is compounded by a confusing treatment process with several medical professionals involved in their care, unfamiliar terminology & not knowing where to find support. That’s what we’re here for & the reason we offer this class. We’ll also touch on resources in the community.
CLASS 2 – LYMPHEDEMA (2:15 p.m. – 3:15 p.m.)
Several reasons for swelling exist & lymphedema is one of them. We’ll discuss what lymphedema is, causes, precautions & treatment as well as where to go to get help & community resources. For breast cancer patients, we’ll provide complimentary baseline volume measurements & discuss symptoms & prevention after class.
Classes are held in the 1st floor conference lounge of the building (south entrance) in Carrollton at 2410 Luna Road. Education is provided using PowerPoint presentation followed by open questions & discussion.
CLASS 3 – COMPRESSION GARMENT OPTIONS, AIDS & CARE (3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.)
Numerous options for compression exist from traditional hose & sleeves to Velcro options & chipped-foam liners. What are the pros & cons of each? Who makes them? How do you wash them & how long to do they last? We’ll use product samples for demonstration as we answer these questions & others. We’ll also review donning & doffing aids (tools that help you put on & take off your compression).
Refunds are offered for cancellations made no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday (the day before class) by calling 214-422-8265.
